The Friends of the Library
in Oxford
Building History
A Memorial Brick fundraising project was held in 2000-2001. This fundraising
effort gave Oxford residents the opportunity to help build a new library. The
effort raised about $25,000, thanks to over 400 families, businesses & Oxford
school classes. Later, construction of the library was narrowly rejected by the
voters. The money is now managed and invested by the Friends of the Library and
earmarked for use in outfitting a future library building.
The bricks are being temporarily placed in a new patio in 2008 outside the
library to use for library programs. The bricks will be removed and placed at
our new library location when it is built.
